Horror/Comedy: Behind the Mask 2007
A self-promoting serial killer who dreams of being the most infamous slasher of all time hires a documentary film crew to follow him as he launches a reign of terror on a small town. Preparing tirelessly for his murderous debut, Leslie Vernon shares his bloody ambitions with director Taylor and her crew. (netflix.com)
Grade: C+
This movie caught me off guard. I was expecting it to be something more scary, but was pleasantly surprised when the comedic aspect came out. In this movie that camera crew and journalist that are fallowing around this aspiring killer are TOTALLY ok with the idea that he will be murdering people soon! They also mention other movie serial killers that were supposed to be real, talking bout their "careers" and techniques. Apparently Michael Myers, Freddy Kruger and a host of other slasher movie killers were part of a secret "club" with a whole bunch of murder etiquette rules! There were plenty of funny moments, but the "serious" moments weren't up to slasher movie standards (in my book).

Comedy/Romance: Gray Matters 2006
Description: This is an original idea for a romantic comedy. In this movie Heather Graham's character Gray, and her brother Sam are practically inseparable. They even meet Sam's future wife together. The problem? Through this story Gray realizes that she too has feelings for her brother's gal.
Grade: B
This was a cute story about a woman realizing who she is, in a funny, heart warming way. This was easy to get into, and although it was about something that could be pretty heavy, it was very lighthearted. The characters were all very like able, and well acted.

Drama/Based on real life: Norma Rae 1979
Description: This is the story of a woman who took her tiny town by storm when she, with the insistence of Leibman's character, create a union in the textile factory she and her family and friends worked for, only to be met with numerous obstacles.
Grade: B+
Perhaps I am a bit biased, being such a huge Sally Field fan, but I thought this was a great movie. It really was an intimate look into this woman's life, in this period of time in her life. It has a very human feel to it, and makes it easy to root for her, although she isn't perfect. If you're interested in getting that "you go girl" feeling, this is the one for you!
Drama/Romance: Arranged 2007
Description: This is an insiders point of view from two women from different cultural and religious backgrounds, both being set up in arranged marriages.
Grade: B-
This movie moves along quite steadily. Although there isn't really a "moral" to the story, or any compelling twists and turns, it was a nice movie. It was a fun watch, and an interesting insight into two different cultures. Relatively light hearted, with romantic ideas. I recommend it.

Drama/tear jerker: In the Bedroom 2001
This is a movie about a couple whose teenage son is involved in a love affair with a single mother.
Grade: B+
This was a movie that totally sucked me in, and was not predictable at all. The acting was great, and the tear jerker facter was enormous! Without giving anything away, I'd say, if your looking for a movie to make you cry, this is it!
